Harbour Friends Social Group for people living at Sovereign Harbour Eastbourne
Louise Furnival - November 2006

I moved into Sovereign Harbour in August 2005 having lived and worked in London for 5 years. Being a bit of a young, twenty-something 'socialite' in London, I found coming to Eastbourne a challenge and to my dismay, by Christmas, despite joining the gym and being friendly with the neighbours, I found it very difficult to meet new people. One day, I read the local newsletter 'Waterlines' and decided to take the plunge and email Bev. It was probably one of the most memorable emails I have ever written, and without sounding too dramatic, that email literally changed my life. With regular meetings, theatre, BBQs, safari suppers, cinema and girlie nights - I now have a busy social calendar and a support network of friends I can call upon at any time. Once you go to one event, and see how genuine the people are - from all walks of life, with different stories to tell, of varying ages - you will inevitably meet someone you get on with and can arrange to do things you maybe would not do alone. I've never felt uncomfortable at an event and would encourage anyone in the Harbour, to come along. At the end of the day, it is your life... and Life is What YOU make it.

Of course, my ever lasting thanks to Bev, who without her efforts, I would not have enjoyed so many happy times.
