Harbour Friends social group for people living at Sovereign Harbour Eastbourne
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to the questions we often get asked about Harbour Friends. If you have any other questions, please contact Bev.

1. Do I have to be a resident of the Harbour to join?

Unfortunately you have to be a resident of Sovereign Harbour to join Harbour Friends.

2. How much does it cost to join?

To cover our costs for the use of the Yacht Club, website etc we ask for a small subscription of £12 per person per annum. That’s just £1 per month or 25 pence per week! We are a non-profit making club, and any monies left in the pot at the end of the year will be put towards an event for all the members.

3. Is it a singles group?

No. Harbour Friends is a mix of single people and couples enjoying each other’s company and having fun. If you are looking for romance and find it, that’s a bonus!

4. What sort of age group are you?

We are a mixed group with ages ranging from 20s to 90s. Some of our members have children and many of our activities are family-friendly.

5. Do you have a regular meeting date?

Yes. We hold a monthly get-together at the Yacht Club usually on the last Sunday of the month. We have various social activities in between – both at the Yacht Club and at other venues - check out Social Events for details. And you will usually find a group of Harbour Friends chatting and drinking at the Yacht Club every Sunday evening from about 7:30pm.

6. When is the best time for new members to come along?

New members need to come on the last Sunday of the month to join. Once you are a member you are then free to come along any Sunday evening to the Yacht Club. Any questions please contact Bev.

7. How do we find out about forthcoming activities?

When you join, your details are added immediately to our distribution list. We send out regular information on forthcoming activities via email. Our social events diary is also regularly updated on this website. If you are not online yet, we can introduce you to a Harbour Friend in your neighbourhood who can help you to keep in touch.

8. Does membership of Harbour Friends entitle us to use the Yacht Club at any time?

As a member of Harbour Friends, you can come to the Yacht Club most Sunday evenings (unless there’s a special event on), but please bring your HF membership card with you. You would need to take out membership of the Yacht Club to use their facilities at all other times. The bar staff will be happy to give you details.
